Rangers have today been linked with an extraordinary switch of players, with £15M-rated Ianis Hagi out and £15M-rated Harry Wilson in.
The Romanian has been linked strongly to Spain with LaLiga giants Sevilla said to be preparing an offer, while stories over the Liverpool winger have returned.
Wilson of course was previously linked to Ibrox, in the early days of Stevie’s tenure, when he was sparkling at Hull, but it didn’t materialise and Rangers got Ryan Kent instead, which hasn’t worked out too badly.
But Wilson’s stock has risen with fine spells at Bournemouth and Cardiff, the Wales international excelling in the Championship, but there is a feeling he’s capable of a lot more and Rangers are strongly monitoring his situation, especially given he’s a RW, something Steven Gerrard has sought since he joined himself.
As for Hagi, his stock is high right now, fresh off the title win and having played a strong part in Rangers’ season, but he’s a target for the likes of Lazio, Real Madrid and now Sevilla – costing £3M, a £15M sale there would represent a huge profit, and would directly fund a move for Liverpool man Wilson.
We’ll see if the coming months bear fruit on this one.
Wilson is quality and young. He is a potential match winner type of player. I’m sure he could flourish fully at Ibrox but maybe could struggle with the unlawful physical aspect of our game and also the reluctance of our Mickey Mouse officials in protecting high skilled players in Scotland.
I doubt if Wilson is worth £15m but then again I don’t think Hagi is either. If we could get one for the other then I’d be happy. I think Wilson is a bit more dynamic and could do a similar job as Kent.
