As we discussed earlier, Rangers’ performances since 55 have been pretty poor, and there’s been a bit of a lull.
But there’s a possible reason for this, one which is really rather obvious when you think about it, and we’re surprised so few have mentioned it.
What do Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara, Filip Helander, Cedric Itten and Jon McLaughlin all have in common?
All of them are likely to certain to be representing their countries at this summer’s Euros, and the moment Rangers won 55, their priorities became that.
It’s not exactly ideal, but these players’ dream was not to win 55 with us, because they didn’t have that emotional investment in Rangers the way you and I do, but their dream most definitely is to wear the shirt of their country in a major championship.
Some of the greatest players in history never got to do that, a big example being George Best and more recently Ryan Giggs, and it’s an honour Kamara and Helander will seize upon.
Of course, only three of those players are regulars, but with the season winding down and thoughts of most players going towards the summer, it may explain some of the loss of focus in the last month.
No sorry don’t buy that sorry. I do agree they will be watching any injury potential for sure but the cup failures had nothing to do with that .
Bill did you actually read this post?
Aye I did those guys were not the key reasons we cannot close out Cup games . They didn’t directly contribute to yesterday loss guys . SG we love him but both him and MB failed to give St Johnstone proper respect . Also the issue of poor game management too . management again ,!!
Maybe you didn’t quite grasp it. We are only referring to a few players whose concentration isn’t all there for Euro 2020 reasons and we only mean from 55 onwards, so the past month, not the past 3 seasons? And as an aside you’re wrong – Helander and Barisic both let Clark completely go.
I think you’ll find Tav was supposed to pick him up (2nd biggest geezer on the field ) , but yes I agree they may be protecting themselves .
