There’s been a tonne of ‘discussion’ about who the manager of the season actually is. Indeed, a number of Rangers fans have elected not to choose our own Steven Gerrard, but St Johnstone’s Callum Davidson.

The Perth chief, in truth, has excelled at McDiarmid since taking over from Tommy Wright, with one League Cup in the bag this season already and a strong contender to secure the Scottish Cup too.

Some fans are looking at that and trying to undermine Steven Gerrard’s 55 with it, yes, some of our own fans.

The reality is Davidson could achieve an astonishing cup double, but bear in mind he’s still got two matches to go to achieve that, with zero guarantee.

The end result? Stop undermining Stevie G and maybe we should accept Davidson has the Midas touch in the cup, the one Stevie has in both the league and UEL.

It’s incredible to say it, but right now, St Johnstone are the best cup team in Scotland right now. They secured a League Cup already, and are close to a second Scottish cup in 8 years.

Tommy Wright of course won them one in 2013 so this isn’t new for this club.

And while Rangers had an ugly night of it on Sunday, let’s not downplay how good St J’s tactics, effort, hunger and organisation were that evening.

We have nothing against St J, and wish Davidson and his side well – but there’s no need to slaughter Stevie’s incredible record this season just because Davidson is working wonders in the cup.

Rangers are Scotland’s best team, and Stevie the best manager for UEL and the league, while Davidson just knows how to eke the best from his side in cups.

Two excellent managers, and both can be very happy with their seasons.

  1. Davidson is an honest sort and is backed by ex Rangers Mcllend and MacLean so , yes well done. However the owners Brown and son are selfish wretches that stabbed the Famous in the back at every opportunity and voted with gusto to send us down . We blew the cup they didn’t play us off the park, the opposite was the case . No Contest Steven Gerrard MOTY and any choice of three for POTY McGregor Davis Tavernier . Case Closed

  2. Rangers have lost 3 fixtures all season. Find me a manger with a better record than that here? MOTY no questions asked!
