Ok, it’s hardly rocket science to make this one up, but of course Football Insider have found a way to spin the Jordan Jones angle as an ‘original’ story by ‘revealing’ Steven Gerrard, who couldn’t give a t*ss about the winger and has never been interested in him, is happy to sell him to Sunderland for about half a million.

And that the player wants to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Jones was a Mark Allen signing, one Gerrard wasn’t interested in because he was focused on Ryan Kent – the NI international is a talented player but Gerrard made his call on Kent and has been vindicated by that decision.

And Jones’ chances at Rangers were pretty much curtailed as soon as Kent was made permanent.

The former Killie man hasn’t been helped by a self-confessed poor attitude in training – and under this manager, once he takes a dislike to you, no matter what you do you’re out.

It was the same with Jamie Murphy, Ross McCrorie and Greg Docherty – all players with a bit about them but just not under Stevie’s favour.

And Jones was most definitely another. It had nothing to do with ability in his case – the lad can play.

But Stevie didn’t take kindly to the Jonny bigshoes attitude or the half-hearted training and barely gave him a shout, even when he finally bucked his attitude up.

And while we wouldn’t believe Football Insider if they told us the sea was wet, this story is certainly a reality and Jones has played his last match for Rangers.
