Rangers have been given a mega double boost after not only James Tavernier returned to grass-based training, but long-term absentee Niko Katic did too.
Tavernier of course has been AWOL for many weeks after a giant double or even triple whammy v Antwerp, and Rangers have been relying heavily on both Nathan Patterson and Leon Balogun.
So it’s delightful to see the first choice and captain finally getting back to the turf, even if there’s no guarantee at all that he’ll be ready for any of the split matches.
As for Katic, it’s been a desperately long road, he had absolutely no timeframe and of course still doesn’t, but it’s wonderful to see him back in among the action at Auchenhowie and getting a taste again of training day.
He and Tavernier aren’t out of the woods yet, and Tavernier is probably a lot closer to action than the big Croat, but it’s fantastic to see them both return to working on the grass, and suggests that, for both, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Fabulous news for both it would be great to have both back for some of the split games. I think big Nico could be ready for next season . Great news.
