English press reckon Stevie is going to replace Roy Hodgson…

On the day before an Old Firm cup clash, English media are once again ‘at it’ and linking Steven Gerrard with yet another PL side, this time Crystal Palace.

It seems England cannot get enough of the Rangers manager, and following Palace’s ‘nowhere land’ status under Roy Hodgson, there have been some claims Steven Gerrard (or indeed former Celtic link Eddie Howe) would be a better bet for the Eagles.

tbf, Hodgson is hardly the most ‘progressive’ manager, being a safe pair of hands but not someone who will ever take a team higher, while Stevie has of course taken Rangers from…well…you know the rest.

Palace are a decent team in truth, an honourable little outfit, but the press down south fail to grasp that Gerrard will ONLY leave Rangers in the future for Liverpool.

He’s never going to manage any other team in the PL, because he will never want to face his boyhood heroes.

But that doesn’t stop Fleet Street finding a new team to tally him up with.

And today it’s Palace.

Who tomorrow?
