Rangers fans were relieved tonight after Borna Barisic’s early withdrawal in midweek turned out to be innocuous as the Croat star turned up in force with an excellent performance tonight in his nation’s win over Cyprus.
Barisic, who had a major number of injuries in his first season at Ibrox, was also in spectacular form in the world cup qualifier, with the third most possession of his team behind only midfield maestros Modric and Brozovic, and his domination on the left saw havoc for Cyprus’ defence.
The LB crossing king banged them in all night, 14 in all, with 4 of them dead on target, and it showed his form is right there with the national team, amidst the hint of competition from Lille’s Bradaric, who wasn’t involved tonight.
But Rangers’ LB was, and had a fantastic night – but it’s that lack of injury Rangers fans will be most happy about, and he will be back after the break to help Rangers’ form going into the split.
