Rangers have this morning been linked with a stunning, SPL-shattering move for Sergio Aguero, with the City man leaving the Etihad at the end of the season.
While his wages are known to be astronomical (£240K), Aguero’s injury issues make him a gigantic gamble for big clubs, meaning his signature is no longer as lucrative as it was – just 8 PL outings this season in 310 minutes give some idea of where he’s been injury wise, and just one goal among them.
But, of course, Rangers are very much in the market for a new striker, with predictions of Alfredo Morelos’ departure and Jermain Defoe’s retirement, the Argentine legend could well be a sensational replacement.
While many would laugh at the idea of Aguero in the PL, his countryman Claudio Cannigia already made the move, and most fans even giggled at Jermain Defoe himself coming north.
But here we are, the latter two to join up.
Is Aguero feasible – if he takes a major wage cut, yes, of course he is – and he knows Steven Gerrard only too well from their many clashes against each other.
But of course, his wages will have to be in line with what we can afford – Defoe is said to be around £65K, and while Aguero has made his money in the game, he won’t want to be on ‘pennies’.
If this is one the club can make happen, it’ll shatter Celtic’s hearts.
