Ibrox Noise sources can reveal a £10M bid was rejected in December for a key asset, believed to be Glen Kamara.

The bid, completely separate to the current speculation both around him and other star players, is said to have interested the player in question, but some negotiations with Rangers persuaded him his immediate future lay at Ibrox.

Rangers of course have a number of prized players who were vulnerable in January and will be vulnerable this summer, but the £10M bid was considered a little low by Ibrox chiefs – it did, however, demonstrate that there was interest in said player and prompted negotiations with Rangers.

Steven Gerrard is said to have had a key hand in persuading the player to remain in Govan, his influence clearly extremely telling and worth listening to.

We cannot be 100% sure it was the Finnish international, but our sources tell us he was high priority at that time and Rangers and Gerrard did stellar work to ensure his focus was back on Rangers.

We know there is definitely interest in Kamara, as well as other Rangers players, and at least one big sale is almost 100% certain this summer – whether that’s the ex-Dundee man we shall see.

As for his value? Rangers were said to be seeking at least £15M for him, but that was before contract talks started. Should he decide to find his way to the PL this summer, it may cost a few bob more.

We’ll keep you posted.
