The Journey – tomorrow there is a very real chance Celtic will slip up and Rangers will formally end their Journey with the most deserved title in Scottish football history.

It may also make history in itself – the 16th of March is the earliest any top flight Scottish club has ever won the league – that was in season 28/29 when Rangers took the gongs.

If Rangers clinch the league tomorrow, while the earliest other occasions of winning the league have admittedly done so with 8 matches to spare (Rangers have just 6), Rangers’ title this season will make history as the earliest chronological title won in the history of Scottish football.

It sounds almost absurd that we’re barely into March and the league is on the precipice of being won in record-breakingly early fashion, but there you have it.

What Steven Gerrard, the staff and the squad have achieved this season has been simply miraculous – halting the Celtic juggernaut with a fraction of the budget, then having the audacity to make the Europa League look like child’s play as well.

No one, and we imagine even the Gaffer himself could have envisaged it going this well – he absolutely had confidence he could do it, and he was so right, but we doubt in his wildest dreams he saw Rangers winning the league this well, this easily, and destroying European goliaths while they were at it.

It’s just been incredible, and if Celtic fail to win tomorrow, it gets even more crazily good.

Just astonishing.
