Rangers beware media’s new £12M attack on Morelos

Rangers are under ‘fire’ again from the gutter press after the tentacles of Football Insider claimed Rangers will only get £12M for Alfredo Morelos.

Now, normally we wouldn’t call a media source like this out, but FI have started to gain a level of influence with their misinformation and their claims a £30M striker like Morelos would attract a third of that are certainly worth addressing and correcting.

FI’s format appears to be ‘making things up’ and ‘stating the bleeding obvious as an exclusive’ and last but not least ‘taking Alan Hutton and Noel Whelon’s opinion as a fact/exclusive’.

This is not exactly reputable or trustworthy, and while we trust Hutton’s honesty, that’s about all we can say about that group.

So when they take on Morelos and try to get his market value reduced, we take issue with that.

Is he £30M? He’s playing like a £30M+ striker. Look at the Adam Armstrong with Blackburn valuation – 24, never scored in anything other than Championship and the Ewood Park giants want £25M for him.

Morelos’ career exceeds this by a mile and yet a media source tries to reduce his value.

We have to wonder why.

Will Rangers get £30M when he moves on? Stuart Robertson was clear a year or two ago – we expected at least what Celtic got for Dembele. All the Celtic striker had over Morelos was European goals in the UCL and some goals v an absolutely howling rotten Rangers – otherwise Morelos exceeds him in every department.

But it’s this £12M claim that really irks us – because the tentacles of FI reach far and wide, and people believe them…

  1. I doubt we’d get anywhere near £30m for Morelos unless he has a strong and consistent return to form and behaves himself. But I wouldn’t accept anywhere near £12m either. Somewhere between £15-20m seems more likely depending on his form at the time.
