Stevie starts to lose patience with Rangers duo?
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - FEBRUARY 03: Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on February 03, 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. As we hinted earlier, Steven Gerrard said something about Ryan Jack’s latest injury which shows echoes of what he said about Kemar Roofe’s.

After the winger sustained yet another injury Gerrard admitted he was ‘frustrated’ with it, and was getting annoyed ‘with all these calves’.

Then at full time the manager confirmed about Ryan Jack’s injury that he was ‘upset’ the midfielder hadn’t reported the issue after 10 minutes, when he had first felt it.

Sure we’re 6 or 7 points from winning 55 so what does it matter, right?

Well, in truth, not a massive amount. But Gerrard’s frustrations over Jack are understandable, while his annoyance at Roofe is slightly more curious given the club knew Roofe’s injury history. Which isn’t terribly good in recent years.

We don’t know how long either of them will be out, but we do know the manager is a little disquieted at the persistence of certain injuries, and despite these players seeing the best medical teams and being closely monitored, the knocks still happen.

We certainly don’t blame him for being frustrated with it.

But the good news?

Glen Kamara put in a very decent shift in Jack’s place yesterday – a £35M Fin international isn’t too bad a replacement, right?

  1. Looking at this from a different perspective . Jack has been immense for Rangers and has delivered when called upon. I hope he may yet heal and come back . I do hope so. Roofe is a little different he’s a very mobile player that really does put himself about. He has also delivered for Rangers. His injury was a little more unfortunate I think and I hope not linked to a persistent problem .

  2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the difference between this team and last year’s effort is the strength in depth. Last year when we lost Jack, Tav and Buf we were a shadow of the side we had been when the full starting 11 were available. This season the replacements have managed to keep us unbeaten. That is something special.
