Stevie G to bring back former Ger this summer?

Rangers have again been linked with a summer interest in former striker Martyn Waghorn. The £5M rated Derby striker has had a horrible season (injury and suspensions) in the Championship with just 2 goals all campaign and 2 assists, compared with the decent 12 and 4 in 43 last term.

But we can’t help feeling this is a player we never want to see back at Ibrox except as a fan.

Waghorn was unable to cope with the expectation at Ibrox during 2016/2017 with an underwhelming 7 in 32, and while he’s a big strong target man, his goals rate for a centre forward is why he’s in the Championship and wasn’t good enough for Rangers in the SPL.

In the Scottish Championship, sure, he was very decent with 20 in 25 but England’s equivalent and Scotland’s top flight are a completely different ball game.

The guy really struggled in the SPL for Rangers, the weight of the shirt being simply too much for him, but then equally he’s never been prolific anyway.

He’s an honest pro and he did his best at Ibrox, never letting us down in terms of his effort, but we need better than Martyn Waghorn going forward and he’s one we’d rather not see come back north except to support us.

  1. I hope this is an off the left field suggestion , no thanks I wish him well . We need to find another Morelos type that can give us 15 /20 goals a season , they are very hard to find and nurture. I hope we can do so , I think we have had some good success in our transfers and some failures too . Onwards 55
