One simple and ridiculous stat reveals how Rangers won 55

We’ve covered this on our social channels, but felt it prudent to emphasise just how remarkable this is.

And this is? Any football manager and indeed title winner will tell you the foundation of winning the league is not 1-0 wins, it’s not consistency, it’s not even scoring more goals than your opponent. These do all help, don’t get us wrong, but it’s not the base point.

The base point is you must win your home matches.

That is where a title begins – a fortress for your home, then the rest takes care of itself.

And Rangers?

Steven Gerrard and Rangers’ record at Ibrox this season is possibly the best in Europe.

No side has come to Ibrox and got anything other than a defeat aside Benfica, and only four sides have managed to score at our home, those being of course Motherwell, Portugal’s finest, Liege, and Dundee United. Five if you add Galatasaray in the qualifiers.

6 goals conceded all season at home, just two in the league – THAT is where your league title has been won.

Rangers have drawn four times away from home, away form being very very good if not perfect, but that home form has made the difference.

And that’s home form which has seen Alfredo Morelos score just 3 goals at Ibrox all season. Can you imagine the numbers had the lad been in the zone and on form this whole campaign?

In reality, Rangers won 55 by building an absolute fortress in Govan – only Benfica came away with anything, with more than a spot of luck, and that gives some idea just how good Rangers have been at home.

While conceding just 6 goals in meaningful competition (not sure Galatasaray counts in the qualifiers) but it’s 7 if you add the Turks.

Since August.

Unbelievable Jeff.

  1. No team fancies playing us home or away anymore. The fear factor is back because we’ve been so dominant. Fact is as you state, this has also been done against top European opposition as well, which just makes it all the more impressive. It’s Ibrox Baby!
