Rangers are looking at a summer move for Hamilton defender Jamie Hamilton, Ibrox Noise sources can reveal.

The 18-year old CB has been a massive stand out for the New Douglas Park side, amassing 30 appearances in the past two seasons, and while Brice Rice’s men sit rooted at the joint foot of the table, Hamilton’s performances are now being closely monitored by Rangers.

A deal between the clubs is not thought to be an issue, and the market value for the rising star is around £300-500K. His contract expires summer 2022.

Rangers have four fit senior centre backs in Goldson, Helander, Balogun and Simpson, but with Niko Katic’s career a concern and a return unknown, while George Edmundson is surplus, this quality young addition who has shone at SPL level would be a definite benefit.

He wouldn’t be instantly viewed as senior team fodder, but one for the future and he has already suggested Rangers’ Connor Goldson is his hero.

Rangers wouldn’t have this one all their own way, as other clubs including Fulham and Brighton are said to be looking at the promising stopper, but Rangers will have the edge for a number of reasons so the arrival of the lad isn’t impossible.

More as we get it.

  1. It would be another signing that wouldn’t excite me on paper as I know nowt about the lad in all honesty, but I said the same about Wright and in his cameos I’ve been pretty impressed. So, if we do go for him I’ll trust Gerrard and Wilson’s judgement on the boy!
