7-man Rangers cull as Stevie’s deadline day nears end
It's his call....

This January has seen something of an exodus.

With Steven Gerrard having been here now for almost three years, aside James Tavernier, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos, the squad and built team is completely his, so we’re now starting to see players he signed being among those leaving.

Glenn Middleton of course is away to St Johnstone, albeit he was not a Stevie signing but a Graeme Murty one in early 2018 a few months before Stevie took charge. It’s just a loan but his Rangers career is done. Hopefully he impresses as McDiarmid and gets a permanent gig.

Jamie Barjonas seems to be headed out to USA. Same boat as Middleton – he was in the senior squad but just isn’t at the level the manager wants. So it’s best he moves on.

Dapo Mebude left on loan for QotS, a promising young striker who isn’t ready to step up for Rangers. It’s a decent gig, he’s got the second tier of Scottish football and a good level for the 19 year old to learn at.

Jordan Jones switched to Sunderland for 6 months and we’ll cover more about that one, but while the signing was indeed under Gerrard’s watch there is much doubt over whether it was he or then DoF Mark Allen who earmarked it.

George Edmundson is nearing a loan out to Wayne Rooney’s Derby and it should be confirmed by the end of today. We’re still not quite sure what we were doing bringing him in but hey ho.

Cammy Palmer left for Linfield, the midfielder just not a part of Stevie’s plans so he can get on with his career in NI. Good luck to him.

And to Rhys Breen, who also joined QotS with Mebude.

The one we’re surprised to hear no exit talk on is Greg Stewart…
