£20M Liverpool striker ‘linked’ to Ibrox – loan?
LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 19: Divock Origi of Liverpool warms up during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Selhurst Park on December 19, 2020 in London, England. The January silly season is certainly under full swing, and amidst curious rumours last night that the learned Neil Lennon had departed Parkhead, was the similar curiosity surrounding Belgian hitman Divock Origi.

Claims circulated the interweb and other sources that the 25-year old forward was in actual fact in Glasgow, claims we can neither confirm nor deny.

But would the Liverpool forward actually be a good signing?

With 29 caps for an NT as good as Belgium, the lad can certainly play – unfortunately he’s actually only scored a paltry 3 times internationally, and his career does not seem a terribly prolific one, at just one in three.

However, given the calibre of side he’s done it for, which includes Lille and Wolfsburg as well as Anfield, a one in three average in three of the big five of European football does bode well.

Market value? Said to be up to £20M and his deal doesn’t run out for another three years, so unless his name is being mentioned in relation to someone else’s sale, we’re not quite sure this lad is in our budget.

That said, his wages, while ample, are reported to be the same as Jermain Defoe, and perhaps Rangers are looking at a loan?

That’s if there’s any truth, of course.

Morelos is unlikely to be at Ibrox long term and Rangers would certainly like a top class hitman as capable as him.

Whether that’s Divock Origi or not we couldn’t tell you.
