Rangers are to finally secure formerly wantaway forward Kai Kennedy on a new deal, sources claim.

The attacking midfielder/winger was of course centre of a huge controversy some months ago with Steven Gerrard indirectly accusing him of ‘ego’ amidst interest from Bayern and Man City, but information is that Rangers and the attacker’s representatives are close to finalising a new contract.

It would be a welcome end to a very messy saga, because the player is certainly a great talent and a cut above the quality a lot of the youth from Auchenhowie have been in recent years.

He’s also very close to being a senior squad member, with Rangers certainly never rejecting the chance to have even more quality in the attacking areas.

Ibrox Noise did speak to a Kennedy representative who suggested the issue with the player was down to a lack of pathway to the first team, but this stand off appears to have thawed whatever the reasons, and it seems pen will go to paper before too long.

About time!
