As Rangers fans are only too well aware, Rangers came through a tough test last Thursday finishing off Belgium’s Standard Liege to secure qualification to the last 32.

What is less known is what the Belgian press said about it.

Ibrox Noise’s Derek did some research, and in a nutshell, he learned our friends on the continent not only praised Liege, but they praised them for doing so well despite losing.

That’s right – their home papers rate Rangers so high now that their team putting up a fight in Glasgow received warm congratulations.

That is how highly Rangers are now rated in Europe.

In the past, it wouldn’t have merited a blink of the eye for a team to beat Rangers, and should a team have lost to us, the national press of that country would be in complete meltdown and demanding everyone at that club be fired.

Not now though, not under Stevie, not under this revolution.

No, now Rangers are a team genuinely feared on the continent – three excellent seasons at that level under this manager have seen to that, and top class European sides’ home press are now praising their clubs for putting up a credible display against us.

Changed times…
