After his latest indiscretion, we’ve seen a few outlets talk about shipping out Jordan Jones, and we must say we can’t ever see the NI winger becoming a regular at Ibrox.

Let’s face it, since Stevie signed Brandon Barker, he’s been the ‘go-to’ backup – not a constant first choice, but usually benched and usually called upon well before Jones was considered.

Despite the manager’s praise of Jones prior to his moment of madness, there’s an unshakable fact that he’s just never been in his plans.

He’s never been used consistently, and even before his crazy red card in 2019 he still wasn’t favoured by the manager.

It’s often been said he was a Mark Allen signing, and not one the manager wanted, and it’s hard to disagree with that.

While he was surprisingly magnanimous towards him and George Edmundson, it doesn’t alter that Jones has never been a preferred choice, and we doubt this incident will change that.

The real question is whether he’s good enough, factually speaking.

Of what we’ve seen, he’s over eager, over keen, and that desperation to impress means he overtries and tries too much.

His performance at Fir Park was very good, and his goal excellent, but he was limp v Ross County and it told a lot that he was absent thereafter.

Ship him out?

He just doesn’t look like he’ll ever get past Brandon Barker – and that is about as indicting as it gets, really.
