Lies: Rangers-linked player has confirmed press nonsense about Gerrard interest

Jack Wilshere has confirmed today there has been absolutely no contact between himself and Rangers, revealing the claims from journalists ‘in the know’ that talks were ‘advanced’ were in fact absolute hogwash.

The 28-year old midfielder has been long-linked to Rangers, in a story that clearly isn’t going to happen, but his admission that there’s been zero contact between himself, his representatives and Rangers confirms the lies from the past that said parties were engaging in negotiation.

From the horse’s mouth, Jack Wilshere and Rangers have not in any way discussed him coming to Ibrox, and indeed haven’t discussed anything at all.

Rangers just aren’t interested, even if Wilshere admires Gerrard and admits he’s seen the rumours linking him to Govan.

Wilshere is a talented player, of no doubt, and Rangers do have a few issues in midfield right now with Ryan Jack unavailable, Bongani Zungu getting fitness back, Steven Davis’ advancing age and Joe Aribo’s unreliable fitness/health.

But these are only fringe issues and we just can’t see a space in the squad, or indeed payroll, for a player who normally expects half a million a month.

Ianis Hagi hasn’t quite got going but he’s frankly a younger model of Wilshere, and as good as the ex-Arsenal player theoretically is, it’s absolutely 100% clear Rangers aren’t going to make a move for him.

And now he’s even confirmed they never did.
