Euro agent’s actions show just how far Rangers have come

Czech Republic star Jakub Jankto’s agent Beppe Riso is at it again after the Milan-linked midfielder now finds himself being mooted towards Ibrox.

The 24-year old Sampdoria player was on the Rossoneri’s radar in recent times during his Udinese days, but the move didn’t materialise and he remains consigned to the perennially midtable Blucerchiati, which he switched to in 2018 on loan, and made it permanent last summer.

The €15M man’s agent has been gearing for a big pay day for years now, and after the Milan move didn’t happen, Rangers, who have absolutely no need for a player in his position now, are being used to either get him a wage rise in Genoa or to get Riso a nice wad of cash.

Arsenal have also been used for this purpose, with the Gunners’ name being touted for the ex-Ascoli man in recent times too – big clubs in Europe like Milan, Arsenal and Rangers certainly trump Sampdoria.

Jankto’s wage is said to be around £25,000 which he’d certainly hike at Milan and the Emirates, while Rangers could afford a modest increase as well.

Hence our name and the others being used.

We have no reason to believe Steven Gerrard is seriously looking at this player, and certainly isn’t looking at anyone who’d cost in the region of at least £10M in January.

As an aside we don’t blame Riso for looking out for his client and himself – that is the job of an agent.

In many ways it’s a big compliment our name is being used for a player of this quality, to try to get him either a big move or a big wage hike.

Just shows how far we’ve come.
