We have to admit more than a touch of curiosity at Steven Davis right now. First he was left out v Hamilton with a small knock and being saved for his country, then he struggled through said international match with a reported thigh issue, and now he’s been taken out of the camp for ‘personal reasons’.

He’s an absolute pro and one of the game’s good guys – as we explored many weeks ago, he refused to sign for Southampton until Rangers had received the payment for him. Made no fuss about it at all, just made sure it happened, and it only came out 8 years later.

But just lately he’s not had his problems to seek.

Injury, family/personal issues all seem to be blighting him right now and we do hope he’s ok.

As an aside, he wasn’t the only withdrawal on this basis, team mate and former club team mate Kyle Lafferty pulled out also for personal reasons, so what anyone can read into that we’re not exactly sure.

Of course we hope Lafferty is ok too, but our primary concern is Davis and his wellbeing.

And it’s not the best time for him recently.
