As we mentioned earlier, Steven Davis has the smallest of reported injury issues but not enough to keep him out of Thursday’s huge clash with Slovakia, but it highlighted something stellar at the moment at Ibrox:

Only Niko Katic is actually out! And even he is on the road back now, which leaves Rangers with a stunning fit squad, only a number of weeks after the club went through a bit of a mini crisis with a clutch of players falling foul of injury.

Indeed, aside the Croat, who could be back next month if his recovery continues as it currently is, the whole squad is available for Steven Gerrard in a ridiculous show of strength with colossal options now in every department.

Even Ryan Jack appears fitter than he’s been for a long time, with recently-improved performances and a much stronger approach than the perhaps slightly more demure demeanour he had earlier in the season.

All of which points towards a raft of quality at Stevie’s disposal, with 28 players available, albeit the Jamie Barjonas’, Glenn Middletons and Dapo Mebudes aren’t really used at that level and Nathan Patterson and Greg Stewart find their minutes severely limited at the moment.

So it boils down to around 22 ‘legit’ players currently making up the core of the squad and first team, and all of them fit. Katic would make 23, but we can be pretty happy with the quality of the 22+ fit men we have available.

Very useful too, as we descend into the winter months…
