While Rangers don’t have their own injury troubles to seek, Celtic’s continued blight of growing CV infection has potentially ruled at least half their first team out of next week’s Old Firm, handing Rangers a major advantage in the first tussle between the two this campaign.

We know a number of our players will likely miss this one, including Katic and Aribo, while massive doubt persists over Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe and Filip Helander, but now Celtic have their own problems with a clutch of first team players also potentially missing through self-isolation.

It adds up to a very curious situation, and would be gloriously ironic if Rangers were to win at Parkhead in ‘unfair’ circumstances given the utterly preposterous circumstances which defaulted Celtic the entire title.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say, and we are amused to see disappointment in the East End over this mess and how it’s engulfing their club.

True, it could also affect our own, and we’re aware of that, but for now all our players have obeyed full protocol and the only thing afflicting them is irritating injuries.

More on this as we get it.
