With the news Scott Parker’s Fulham are set to take Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan, we wonder if this is one Rangers could have snapped up instead.
Sure, Fulham is still Premier League, but the 24-year old, who once had so much promise in the game, and still has a market value of around £20M, has failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, with just 82 appearances.
Rangers are working on a deal to secure Amiens’ Bongani Zungu, but an English midfielder of the quality of Loftus-Cheek might have been a wonderful addition on loan, had the price been right.
Reports are that the former Crystal Palace man priced himself out of a move to Southampton, so maybe the move wouldn’t have been feasible from a financial point of view, but Rangers are a much bigger club than the side from St Mary’s and of course the great Steven Gerrard is our manager.
Who better in the world of football right now for a midfielder to be coached by?
Either way, Loftus-Cheek might have been out of our budget range, but still, we thought Jermain Defoe would be as well.
Maybe this could have been a viable move for him to kick-start his career?
