Steven Gerrard has cast major doubt on whether star striker Alfredo Morelos will start today v Kilmarnock after confirming the player doesn’t look himself and he isn’t focused any more.
French giants Lille, as Ibrox Noise broke to you yesterday, are preparing another bid for the forward, with Rangers standing firm on the £20M valuation, and the Ligue 1 side will have to submit something in that region to get their man, but Morelos’ head has been completely turned and his performances reflect that.
As such, it could be a shock starting debut for new striker Cedric Itten, despite the fact the Swiss international is quite a bit off match fitness and isn’t settled fully yet, but Morelos is in no mental state to play for Rangers any more.
His head is now clearly elsewhere, and the hard work we’d normally associate with him is AWOL as well.
As for Lille, well with their confirmation their £16.5M bid was dismissed by Rangers, we can certainly expect something notably higher than that for them to get their man.
The French side want quality depth up front, and Morelos would certainly add to their armoury.
Sooner this deal is done and we can move on the better.
