Ex-Bear with subtle dig at Gerrard & Rangers
Hull City's new man

Hull City’s new signing Greg Docherty appears to have taken a bit of a dig at Rangers with a goodbye message which praised only the club’s fans and not the club as a whole for how he was treated.

Speaking on Instagram as he was unveiled as a tiger, Docherty took time to thank the red, white and blue army for their unwavering support, but gave no ounce of comment to the club.

“Representing Rangers is something I always did so with immense pride and never took for granted. I can’t thank the fans enough for the incredible support shown to me throughout my time at the club however it is time to take on the next challenge in my career. I’m already looking forward to returning as a supporter in the future when it is safe to do so!”

Docherty did indeed get superb backing from the support, but he didn’t find himself blessed with that same honour from the club or the manager.

In fact, it’s not overstating the mark to imply he was treated pretty dreadfully.

We don’t know the ‘truth’ about why, if there even is one, but he makes it pretty clear his affection is for the fans, and in general, the players and the historic club – but no ounce of thanks to the present club/management and we’re not at all shocked.

  1. I don’t see any snub here. Right or wrong he doesn’t really have much to thank the club or the manager for but the fans have largely stood with him, even the ones that accepted he maybe just wasn’t good enough.
