Morelos shock as Rangers hold firm on asking price

Alfredo Morelos’ proposed transfer to Lille has fallen through for the time being after the French giants refused to meet Rangers’ asking price.

The Ibrox side have a £20M valuation on the Colombian hitman’s head, and the Ligue 1 outfit have bid somewhere between £6M-£15M for his services, which Rangers consider far too low and have held extremely firm.

The striker has agreed terms with Christophe Gaultier’s men and was set to join them on the agreement of a fee between clubs, but that has not materialised and, for now, Alfredo Morelos remains a Rangers player.

In truth, we have to praise Rangers for not just giving Morelos what he wants – and for being selfish enough to stay true to his market valuation and not buckling to a sub-standard bid.

The former HJK man is a huge financial asset, and he will not be sold on the cheap – so anyone else who wants him now knows they will not be able to get a bargain.

As for the player, for now yes, Rangers have an unhappy player who wants to leave – but no one is bigger than the club and unless Rangers’ valuation is met, he goes nowhere.

More as we get it.
