Rangers set for massive Bayer UEL boost

Rangers are set for a massive Europa League boost after opponents Bayer Leverkusen’s form hit the floor in a disastrous return to Bundesliga action.

With just two wins in their past five matches, the German giants’ form has dovetailed spectacularly and Leverkusen are a pale imitation of the side who beat Rangers at Ibrox.

Indeed, they’d only failed to pick up maximum points once since early February (albeit that was cup) and since the restart have failed to win 4 of their past 8 giving Rangers, when this second leg takes place, potentially in August, a real chance of a stunning upset.

Rangers of course are 1-3 down from the first 90, and no one gave Steven Gerrard’s men a hope going into the away fixture, but with 10 goals conceded in 6 matches by their opponent anything is now possible and the chances of a staggering overturn have increased significantly.

Of course, to travel to Germany (when it is safe for this to happen) and secure a 3 goal turnaround will still be brutally hard, even considering Leverkusen’s current drastic form, so Steven Gerrard will need to work another one of his European miracles for this to happen.

But it happened against Braga and the omens are in place that it could happen v Bayer too, so here’s hoping.

But yes, with their form where it is, don’t write off the Rangers. Not at all.
