Lee Bowyer gives key update on Rangers target

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer (sure you knew that didn’t you) has confirmed categorically that long-term Rangers target Lyle Taylor will not play for Charlton again after there were rumours the striker had done a u-turn.

Bowyer said he understood the 29-year old’s position and decision but it was ‘disappointing’ that he wouldn’t be able to call upon his services again.

The forward, linked with Celtic as well, of course, had been the centre of attention for refusing to play in lieu of getting injured and losing out on a big move, but Bowyer has indeed announce that is the case and the tall front man will not play again for the Valley side.

Out of contract in 14 days of course, Taylor has elected to bide his time and save up his big moment for a big move – there are rumours Rangers have a chance of securing him and that Steven Gerrard is interested, we’ll wait and see on that one.

The u-turn, of course, was that he’d decided to do the ‘honourable’ thing and play out his contract and make himself available – but it appears that’s wide of the mark and he’s now waiting for his next move to materialise.

We’ll just see if it’s to Ibrox.
