Rangers, of course, will be linked to dozens of players over the coming weeks and months and stories will run and run as to who will be the next signature.
But one resurfaced lately with the name of ex-Aberdeen mid and current Norwich star Kenny McLean.
McLean, of course, was subject to major interest from Rangers some time ago, with an alleged price tag being quoted of £2M that Aberdeen were said to want – the player states nothing materialised from Rangers, and he ended up moving south to Carrow Road for a fee barely a quarter of that.
And his name, now that he’s an experienced PL regular with tonnes of experience of England’s top flight, has once again been mentioned thanks to his appearances on Si Ferry’s Open Goal.
So, we wanted to know your thoughts on signing him at long last.
Remember, his price tag and market value is now in the £4M range, and he’s an increasingly experienced Scotland international, so it’s not quite the £350K Norwich originally paid.
But did you want him?
We were interested in the numbers, and a very solid 60% of you were outright against the acquisition of the engine room player, while a still-healthy 40% did indeed want Steven Gerrard to make a move.
It’s not a huge majority to reject him, but it’s strong, and suggests there are areas in the pitch we really need to prioritise more than midfield.
For example, our Howedes poll was categorical as to your aggressive majority in favour of him, but this one just didn’t get anything like that.
According to you, McLean would probably be a rather unpopular and unnecessary addition.
