Transfer roundup at Ibrox – Stevie G (reportedly) wants these five

With transfer season starting up in earnest over the past week or so, Ibrox Noise brings you a roundup of all the players Steven Gerrard is reportedly looking at and wants in Govan next season.

This is just the main ones so far.

Lyndon Dykes:

He’s been looking at him for a long time, and with Alfredo Morelos a target for a multitude of sides, the Livi hitman wouldn’t be an unpopular signing. Many argue he’s just not good enough to replace Morelos, but what was Morelos’ CV before coming to Ibrox? Tonnes of goals in Finland? SPL is harder, and Dykes is a top scorer here. Don’t write him off.

Lewis Ferguson:

Certainly a sterling talent, but he won’t be cheap. Under contract for a near-half decade, the boyhood Bear would come to Rangers but we’ll need to get the wallet out.

Pedro Chirivella:

22-year old DM, but a fairly solid one, Chirivella is strong in passing, intercepting and tackling – things Glen Kamara certainly isn’t. But he’s another Liverpool kid and reaction to us looking at Anfield again hasn’t been overly encouraging.

Niklas Dorsch:

22-year old midfielder (notice a pattern) at Heidenheim, he’s been a strong performer in his career and is ready it seems to make the next step.

Adrian Grbic:

Austrian striker (pattern here) who’s plying his trade in Ligue 2 with Clermont, and tbh has a strong resume. The 23-year old has done pretty well at the top levels, and he’s done even better in France’s second division. He’s a target for a few sides.

That’s the main ones so far, but we have to say the lack of defenders is a touch concerning. In truth, it’s a recurring theme with most of our managers the past 5-10 years, the obsession with midfielders and wingers/attackers but a depressing lack of rearguard action.

Anyway, that’s the lot for now.
