Rangers ‘forced’ to sell star man this summer – claims

Rangers have been rocked by two revelations over star left back Borna Barisic, following yet another poor result domestically.

The Croatian, who admittedly has been pretty rotten (like the rest of them) since signing his new deal, may indeed be tied down till 2024, but his agent has claimed Rangers will have no choice this summer but to sell him with Napoli joining the interested parties, while long-term admirers Roma remained undeterred by the extension and had him watched again against Braga in Portugal.

In simple terms, securing the Croat down to a new deal hasn’t actually changed much, and despite his being secured for an extra four years, the Serie A pair will reportedly bid this summer regardless, with his agent claiming Rangers will have to sell and the player will want to leave.

It’s not helpful language Ives Cakarun has produced, and while Barisic can’t keep his agent on a leash, his lack of counter comment to the Turk’s claims is quite telling.

With the former Osijek man’s stock in the game as high as it is, the defender’s head has evidently been turned by the interest, with the agent claiming the strongest bid actually came from Naples.

We can certainly expect a major bidding war in the summer, because a player of this nature isn’t cheap.

But if the continued scouting plus the agent’s claims are to be taken seriously, Barisic’s spell at Ibrox may be coming to an end this year.
