Rangers blow confirmed as duo miss out

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard today confirmed what we brought you after Hearts, that Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield are out of tomorrow’s clash with Hamilton and are major doubts for the weekend as well, suggesting they could be out for a potential week plus.

Jack damaged his foot, and Arfield’s injury wasn’t as bad as initially feared, but neither will take their place tomorrow night and that means a certain return to the starting XI for Glen Kamara.

Rangers are thin in the midfield front at present, with just Steven Davis and Kamara actually available in the guts of that area, although Joe Aribo and Ianis Hagi can play at the apex in a more attacking formation.

Matt Polster is also quite capable in that area, and Andy Halliday too can certainly deputise, but it’s not ideal to lose players to injury at the best of times.

But Davis and especially Arfield’s qualities will be sorely missed in the middle, and while this does possibly enforce change by the manager, we doubt the midfield three will be anything other than Davis, Kamara and Aribo.

Which isn’t really change at all.

Big blow losing these two.
