Megamillions bidding war set to target key Rangers man – four clubs monitoring

Rangers will secure a minimum of £25M this summer from the sale of Borna Barisic, it appears, after Tottenham reportedly joined the growing list of wealthy suitors seeking to secure the Croatia international.

Valued at around £25M by Rangers, as Celtic’s former LB Kieran Tierney was, Rangers expect a bidding war from Spurs, long-time admirers Roma and fellow Serie A giants Napoli, with rumours also persisting that Milan giants AC are still interested as well.

Barisic’s head has been tangibly turned by Roma’s interest, and while the former Osijek man did the right and decent thing signing a new deal to secure Rangers the best transfer fee for him, since that new deal, in concert with aforementioned interest, the defender has not been at his best this calendar year.

As such, when a player’s head is gone, it is very hard to get it back, and Rangers are likely to cut their losses and make a goliath profit this summer on a player who only cost around £2M.

What could the 27-year old go for?

Well his stock is incredibly high, he’s been extraordinary in the UEL, and while the second half of the season hasn’t matched the majority of the first, he’s in the sights of some of Europe’s biggest and wealthiest clubs.

Which can only mean Rangers will get a massive windfall this summer, possibly in excess of £25M and we’re ok with losing Barisic and gaining potentially enough to massively overhaul this creaking squad.

Whether all fans still implicitly trust the current manager with that potential money is less clear, however.
