Stevie hit with huge blow – problems mounting

Steven Gerrard’s injury problems have soared after Croat left back Borna Barisic became the latest addition to the sick list, after catching himself on the fake Hamilton turf (more on that later).

Let’s take you through the now horrendous casualty pack at Ibrox:

Borna Barisic:

Caught on the turf, he did his leg and had to go off for Andy Halliday. The Croat is now a doubt for upcoming fixtures until the extent of the damage is clear.

Ryan Jack:

Return isn’t really yet known, we’ve covered this ongoing problem in an early entry, and it’s safe to say that while hopefully it won’t be too long, Jack’s current absence is a huge issue.

Jermain Defoe:

Out for the potential season, the striker did his calf and won’t be back before the international break at the earliest, which takes us perilously close to the split and he’ll be some way off match fitness by then. Not ideal.

Filip Helander:

Stevie confirmed this had seen complications, and it was 5 weeks at absolute best, well beyond the international break at worst. Helander’s foot injury has proven quite a unique situation and Rangers are set to be without him for some time.

James Tavernier:

Yes, he’s ‘fit’ and playing again but he’s not up with the pace yet. If he’d been any other player he wouldn’t have been rushed back like this.

Alfredo Morelos:

Like Tavernier he’s ‘fit’ but he’s a mile off the pace after some supposed injury and he’s not looking sharp at all.

6 key men, and we don’t bet against further players adding to this list.
