With today’s must-win visit of in-form Livi only moments away, Steven Gerrard has made a gigantic statement with the team selection, arguably submitting the strongest possible available XI to face Gary Holt’s men.
McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Katic, Halliday, Davis, Jack, Arfield, Kent, Morelos and Hagi is the eleven men selected, and aside personal preference aside to give the likes of Jones a chance, this is effectively the best side Steven Gerrard actually has.
The only player not available who can make this stronger is Borna Barisic, and while there could be a bit of ‘shoogling’ in formation (Hagi is better as a 10), ultimately this is pretty much the strongest team Rangers can put out.
If this is unable to get the 3 points today, major questions have to be asked, and with Celtic winning again at Pittodrie, if Rangers are to have even the tiniest sliver of hope of salvaging the title, a win is beyond critical.
A draw or less and that’s the final curtain.
It’s no wonder Rangers have pretty much picked the best side we actually have.
