Does massive Stevie G call spell the end for Sheyi Ojo?

We will analyse more of last night’s crucial three points over the course of the day, but we must admit the sight of Sheyi Ojo’s name nowhere to be seen was deeply welcome.

The winger has been a pretty awful signing, who has, to quote one of our readers, ‘hidden behind that Feyenoord goal too long’.

Yes he has – offering very little in the way of link play, attacking sharpness or much in the way of final balls, Ojo has been a victim of the boo boys – not literally booing him of course, but being heavily criticised for under par displays.

And yesterday’s omission of his name from the entire match day squad for the first time since the win over Killie last year in favour of Jordan Jones on the bench may just have been an ominous sign for the Liverpool winger.

In truth, he’s been in and out of the team since around mid-October where he started being a sub.

But his absence from the bench last night may suggest Gerrard has lost patience, and wants to give Jones and Barker more of a chance.

Both wingers were on the sidelines last night, and Jones came on, (albeit we’re not sure how much he got of the ball at all!) and being on the pitch noticeably wider on the left than Kent had been – perhaps that width helped create central space for the winning goal?

Either way, Ojo wasn’t any part of it, and frankly, long may that continue.
