Big Rangers changes to face Hibs

So we host Hibs tonight in what has become a truly massive 90 minutes, a match which either continues the rot setting in to recent form, or blows it sky high and finally gets the side going this calendar year.

The team selection has become more critical, and as far as we’re concerned on Ibrox Noise, changes are essential.

We already advocated Ianis Hagi to start, to give some fresh energy, but what other key areas and players would we change? And which ones do you agree with?

First off, James Tavernier might be back and available but he’s not fully fit, and won’t last 90 minutes. We’d prefer to keep him as a sub, possibly to introduce in the second half if things don’t go to plan. Polster should start at RB.

Defence otherwise we’d keep as the in-form Goldson, while hoping Croat pair Niko Katic and Borna Barisic get their own performances back on track. We have faith they can.

In midfield, Davis must start – also been in a bit of a lull, but he’s one who needs the team ticking around him to get the best from his own game. Which is why Scott Arfield should sit in front of him to give energy and graft to the centre of midfield.

Glen Kamara should not start this one – he’s simply not good enough, bar a fine split last season – otherwise he’s been monumentally poor for Rangers this season and it’s time Stevie accepted that.

As we also said, Ianis Hagi in front of Arfield.

Up top?

This is where things get sort of complicated.

While we said Tavernier wasn’t fit to start, the alternative on the right wing remains the ineffective Joe Aribo, who is just too slow, clunky and ill-fitting for that slot. Ergo, it’s either a non-fit Tav, or Sheyi Ojo. Unfortunately, Ojo seems to have something on his manager as it’s been confirmed he’ll play a big part going forward.

On the left it’ll be Kent and centrally it’ll be Morelos.

But there is an alternative to this confusion. And we’ll have that for you later…
