Stevie appears to have known a serious bid was coming

Steven Gerrard’s stance earlier this week of conceding a bid was possible for Alfredo Morelos appears to have been more than a touch of crystal ball prophesising following just two days later a breaking story that after the loss of Javier Hernandez to the MLS, Spanish giants Sevilla are set to bid for the Colombian to replace the departed ex-Man Utd man.

The loss of Hernandez is hardly a huge blow to the La Liga side given the 31-year old didn’t make a lot of appearances for them and only scored 3 times, but the targeting of a much younger model in the shape of Morelos suggests a change in policy and the promotion of such a player to a higher position than the Mexican had.

Indeed, with just five goals in 15 appearances, their best striker right now is Lucas Ocampos and the fourth-placed side definitely see some new blood as a better solution, especially with el-bufalo’s scoring rate in both Scotland and Europe.

And Steven Gerrard’s comments seemed to be aware a bid was incoming, because rather than immediately wording it as an immediate rebuke to any on their way, the manager instead suggested he couldn’t predict one way or the other whether there would indeed be one.

And now Sevilla have set their sights on seriously bolstering their slightly misfiring attack with the Colombian hitman.

It’ll need to be crazy money for Rangers to sell at this stage of the January window.

And we mean crazy.
