Steven Gerrard gives ‘concerning’ update on midfielder

Greg Docherty’s proposed move out has seemingly fallen through after Steven Gerrard today admitted the situation with him is now ‘bubbling’ but nothing is close.

The midfielder is not in the manager’s plans and seeks first-team football, with Sunderland and Charlton both reportedly interested in such a lucrative loan, but following an ‘imminent announcement’, the work to get him a new team has rather gone quiet and no one appears to have the lead.

Gerrard said:

“Docherty is still about. The kid has got a lot of interest because of the success he had on loan at Shrewsbury. There’s a lot of respect for Doc down in League One and also some in the Championship. He’s got a few things bubbling away but nothing to report just yet.”

Docherty was linked to Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen earlier in this window, along with Peterborough and Wigan plus of course Sunderland and Charlton, not to mention Millwall, but in the 21st day of this window and still no deal has been found for him.

He’s a hugely in demand player, and obviously we hope he gets the right move, but it’s certainly puzzling such a prized player cannot seem to get the move he wants to the right club.

We wish him the best.

  1. I don't know why we don't try and get players like Docherty and Murphy out to SPL clubs instead of England. I'd rather have these guys strengthening those clubs for games against Ceptic and fighting our cause from within then not being able to play against us.
