Rangers’ critical deadline day deal hits huge snag

Rangers’ pursuit of Hibs striker Florian Kamberi has hit a big snag after it emerged while the deal has been agreed in principle and the Albanian has travelled for his medical, it will only be ratified if boss Jack Ross can find a replacement in time.

The 24-year old is ready to sign on loan, with everything seemingly in order, to be a quick fix replacement for Jermain Defoe, but if the Easter Road manager cannot find someone in the next few hours, the deal will be off and he’ll be going back east to Hibs.

It all makes for a nervy state of affairs for manager Steven Gerrard who has seen striker moves fall through today, and resorting to this loan is very much a slight panic signing, but he needs someone pretty urgently and has admitted the state of affairs is grave if he can’t get anyone over the line today.

Kamberi, a solid enough SPL striker, concerns us a touch, in terms of his being good enough for Rangers – the last player we got (indirectly) from Hibs, Brandon Barker, just wasn’t up to scratch to say the least – and we are concerned this guy isn’t either.

But this is desperate times and desperate measures and we need someone short notice, albeit we’d much prefer Lyndon Dykes, in truth.

The mania of deadline day continues.
