We don't think anyone noticed this Rangers UEL stunner - did you?

While the unfortunate late OG from Borna Barisic was an ugly blot on another otherwise polished home performance in the Europa League, nevertheless by not losing, where, again, it should have been a Rangers win, Steven Gerrard’s side achieved something pretty astonishing this season at Ibrox in the group stage of the Europa League.

Not only did we not lose to anyone at home, but we beat and drew with two sides who are both traditionally Champions League teams, and indeed who both were so last season.

Young Boys, who Rangers of course outclassed and should have scored more against, won the Swiss Premier League last season, were in the Champions League last season and currently top the Swiss division this campaign too. Rangers were deeply unlucky both home and away against this side, and that shows the astonishing calibre Gerrard’s men are both facing, and outclassing.

And then we have Porto – traditional UCL sides, past winners of course, currently second in the table, and they too were Champions League last season, making it to the quarter finals, of course.

It makes for an astonishing level that Rangers have hit, with a side mostly assembled as freebies or loans, that they have matched and frankly bested side of the calibre of these two.

And we haven’t even mentioned the stonking win over Dutch giants Feyenoord.

It really is the perfect fillip to a tough domestic week for Rangers.
