Borna Barisic; it’s started

Unsurprisingly, following his Old Firm heroics not to mention stellar Europa League exploits, Rangers left back Borna Barisic has become a target for a host of giant European clubs, including Roma and AC Milan.

This was no shock, and we discussed only yesterday how his value was at least £40M – surely more than either of those sides can afford, but more importantly how crucial a player he fundamentally is now to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

As we suggested, the Croat international is now arguably Rangers’ best player, and that comes with a serious price tag – but while the former Osijek man has confirmed he’s happy at Ibrox following these stories, nevertheless money talks and a massive bid would certainly make Rangers take notice.

Rangers won’t sell Barisic for a penny under £25M, same as Tierney, and of course he’s a 20x better player than the-now Arsenal man, so Rangers would certainly expect bids well in excess of that number to even consider selling one of the UKs best left backs.

Barisic’s stock has hiked exponentially the past few months, with consistent, excellent performances and demonstrating his ability at both ends of the park – and that has certainly alerted some of the biggest clubs around.

He remains top of the UEL assist chart, with 3, and his double at Parkhead only compounded his rising importance.

We won’t say he’s one we MUST keep, and that he’s unsellable even at stupid money, but let’s say we’re infinitely stronger with him in the side and his value to the club is kind of priceless now.

We’ll see how this story unfolds.

  2. Agree with BL. BB, is a golden asset. If we can hold on to him for at least another season, that would be ideal.

  3. I think the commitment issue was finally put to bed at Easter road a fortnight ago when Porteous tried to break his leg and he stayed on to the end , exactly what SG wants to see
