Alfredo Morelos creates history – once again

Alfredo Morelos created nothing but history on Thursday with his latest European goal, and the records just keep surfacing and tumbling.

As we know the Colombian finished top scorer of the whole Europa League group phase, sitting pretty alone on 6, but what maybe a few less fans realise is he was just one goal off creating complete history by scoring a 7th, which would have been the most any Rangers player has ever scored in a single European campaign.

With his 6th he equalled Jim Forrest’s legendary 1965 record, but of course with Rangers guaranteed passage into the KO stage, Morelos now has 180 minutes minimum to make absolute history all of his own and become Rangers’ outright highest scorer in any single European adventure.

Of course, if we’re to be absolutely finickity then he’s already well and truly broken all records given he has 8 goals in qualifying, making it 14 in total in Europe, but of course qualifiers don’t really count in the same way.

So 6 it is, and come the last 32 Rangers might just have the record European goalscorer in a single campaign in our midst.

Just yet another stunner for Alfredo Morelos.
