9-1 – why Rangers HAVE to get the win at Parkhead

Earlier we discussed Celtic’s consistency in the SPL, scoring a minimum of 2 goals per win the past 11 matches. And how that was a key to securing a win against them tomorrow.

However, we must point out, historically, what Steven Gerrard is up against, and just how big a statement it would be to get the win tomorrow.

Neil Lennon, as Celtic manager, has an almost preposterous aggregate 9-1 winning scoreline in 4 Old Firm matches at Parkhead as Celtic manager dating back October 2010 when Walter Smith was manager of Rangers – 9-1 is a strong score in favour of the green and whites, and Rangers, in presently decent form, are probably placed in just about the best position they’ve been for the best part of 7+ years to reduce that deficit.

It’s a pretty horrific stat really, and Steven Gerrard is under the biggest pressure of his still-young managerial career to overcome that and make it look a little better.

We believe he can, but the real proof in the pudding will be tomorrow at half 12.
