Steven Gerrard has formally denied any January interest in Finnish midfielder Glen Kamara. The 23-year old engine-room man has been the subject of a lot of speculation over his position at the club and the possibility he was vulnerable to a sale this winter window, with English side Brighton being notably linked with a move.
But Rangers’ manager has poo-pooed this and suggested there’s nothing whatsoever in it.
He said:
“We haven’t heard of any interest down south. We’ve read tonnes about it. We haven’t heard about that interest.”
So, in a nutshell, if any interest exists about Kamara, the chances are no clubs at the centre of it have made any kind of official approach at all.
In a recent poll the numbers mainly suggested Kamara could be sold at the right price, but this wasn’t a universal view and Rangers’ Finnish representative at next summer’s Euros seems to remain an integral part of Gerrard’s squad for now.
