Rangers scouts watch Belgian U21 international

Rangers have been credited with an interest in Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzi after scouts reportedly attended a Belgian top-flight fixture some weeks ago.

The left winger, 20, is a Belgian youth international with 10 caps and 2 goals for his country and is considered a rising star of Belgian football, and one look at his CV reveals why.

The Anderlecht attacker broke through in 2017 and had a solid season last campaign with 3 assists and a goal in 21 league appearances, and this season in 10 outings has an assist.

The 5ft 5 forward is regarded as lightning quick and a fine dribbler, while being extremely versatile to play anywhere among the front three.

And Rangers’ Director of Football, Ross Wilson, was interested in this lad four months ago during his Southampton days.

With Ibrox scouts taking in a Zulte Anderlecht match, it’s entirely possible Amuzi was the man they sought. Sadly he didn’t get to play, being benched.

His current deal has years to run, so he wouldn’t be a free transfer, but being a predominantly left-sided winger, it could be that Steven Gerrard seeks extra depth there given Brandon Barker’s arguable struggles to make the grade.

We’ll see in time if anything comes of this.
