“Outstanding” – Stevie G praises Celtic star

Steven Gerrard today rose above the Old Firm divide by complimenting Celtic’s Callum McGregor as well as Villa’s John McGinn and of course Rangers’ own Ryan Jack as part of Steve Clarke’s impressive midfield.

Scotland, who missed out on an automatic playoff spot over the break, have finally started to select Jack in the middle of the park, in light of the former Aberdeen man’s staggering club form.

Gerrard praised vividly his display while also expressing a nod to the other two as well, showing he isn’t biased.

Rangers’ boss said at his pre-Hamilton presser:

“I thought that midfield three, just to prove that I’m not biased, I thought McGregor, Jack and John McGinn were outstanding as a threesome.”

It always shows maturity on the part of any member of the Old Firm to praise the opposition side, and of course Celtic’s Neil Lennon was gushing towards Fernando Ricksen after we lost the former captain, and Gerrard today has shown further proof the Old Firm divide doesn’t categorically end any humility and humanity, and his praise of the Celtic man is the kind of bridge-building Scottish football could do with more of.
